Roof Rescue

The slates are slipping. It's chucking it down.

Underneath you there's a beautifully furnished bedroom. Every slate you don't nail back is water going into it. It gets faster. It gets heavier. Most people manage about a minute.

walk along the roofchange courseSpacetap the awl — this is the one that nails slates

WASD works too. Or click the buttons above — they work with a mouse as well as a thumb.

How to play

  1. 1
Walk to a slipping slate and tap the awl three times. First tap shoves it back up the pitch, and each one drives a nail. Three nails and it's sound again — you'll see the nail heads go white.
  2. 2
Miss one and it slides off, leaving a hole. Holes let the rain straight in. Walk down to the slate stack on the scaffold at the far left, pick up a fresh slate, carry it up and drop it in the gap.
  3. 3
Then nail the new one in, straight away. A slate that's only sitting in the gap will creep back down on its own and you'll lose it. This is the bit that catches everyone.
  4. 4
Keep the damage bar down. Water goes through the ceiling, down the walls, into the bed and eventually the telly. At 100% the ceiling comes in and that's your go over.

Chain your repairs — fix one within a couple of seconds of the last and the combo multiplier climbs, up to ×9. Lose a slate and it resets.

Right — the bit that isn't a game

We built this because it's the one thing that's genuinely hard to get across in a quote. A slipped slate is a cheap job. Ignore it through a wet autumn and you're not paying for a slate any more — you're paying for battens, plasterboard, a ceiling, decorating, and whatever the water landed on.

In the game you get another go. On a real roof the damage bar only goes one way, and it carries on going up while you're at work.
