Clean Sheet
A roof has one job. So does a goalie.
You're in the Panthers net. Behind you, where the netting should be, there's a pitched roof. Every puck that beats you takes a slate with it, and nobody counts the saves. Most people don't survive the second period.

A and D work too. Or use the buttons above — they work with a mouse as well as a thumb.
How to play
- 1Move across the crease and get your body behind it. Left and right, that's it. The width of the goalie is the width of your save — what you see is exactly what stops a puck.
- 2Sprawl for the ones you can't reach. Space bar, or the red button. The pads go wide and you cover nearly twice the net — then there's a moment where you're on the ice and can't go again. Spend it wrongly and the next one's in.
- 3Watch for the wind-up. A slapshot flashes at the blue line before it's let go, with a line showing where it's headed. It travels getting on for twice the speed of everything else. That warning is the only fair thing about it.
- 4Survive a whole period without conceding. That's a clean sheet, and it's worth more than all the saves that made it. Five past you and you're pulled.
String saves together — every consecutive stop climbs the multiplier, up to ×8. One goal against and it's back to the start.
Right — the bit that isn't a game
We sponsor the Panthers, so the gag was there for the taking. But it stands up better than a gag should. A goalie can make thirty-eight saves and everyone still talks about the one that went in. A roof is judged exactly the same way — it can keep the weather out for nineteen winters, and the only night anyone thinks about it is the one where it doesn't.
The difference is that a goalie gets pulled and a roof doesn't. It stays out there conceding, quietly, into your loft — and by the time you've noticed, you're not paying for a slate any more.

Elite League ice hockey at the Motorpoint Arena, and the reason this game exists. If you've not been, the real thing is a great deal faster than the 16-bit version — and considerably louder.
