Lean-to conservatory warm-roof conversion — Hucknall

This Hucknall home had a lean-to conservatory that the family had stopped using for most of the year — too cold to sit in through winter and too bright and hot when the sun was out. The original glazed roof did little to hold the heat in or keep the glare down.

What we did

• Carefully removed the old conservatory roof, keeping the existing frame and glazing in place
• Fitted a lightweight, fully insulated warm-roof structure engineered for the span
• Added a breathable membrane and insulation, then finished the outside in lightweight roof tiles
• Built an insulated internal pelmet and plastered a fresh, flat ceiling
• Fitted a roof window to keep plenty of natural light coming in
• Renewed the fascias and guttering to match

The result

The conservatory is now a proper room — warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and much quieter when it rains. It is comfortable to use all year round rather than just a few weeks of it.
