Tiled warm-roof conservatory conversion

This conservatory had the classic problem — a glass roof that turned it into a greenhouse in summer and left it freezing in winter, so the room barely got used. The brickwork and frames were sound, so there was no need to start again: the roof was the only thing letting it down.

What we did

We stripped the old glass roof and replaced it with a lightweight, fully-insulated tiled warm-roof system. Inside, the ceiling was boarded, plastered and painted so it feels like a proper room rather than a conservatory. Roof windows can be built in where the customer wants to keep the daylight.

The result

A warm, quiet, usable room all year round — no more glare, no more drumming rain, and a temperature that stays in step with the rest of the house. From the garden it reads like a tiled single-storey extension, not a bolt-on conservatory.
