We get called out to a lot of roofs that were “done cheap” a year or two ago. A bucket of mastic over a cracked valley, a few tiles slapped back without re-bedding the ridge, a flat roof patched instead of stripped. It holds through a dry spell — then the first proper storm finds the same weak spot, and the water's now been getting into the timbers the whole time.

By the time it shows on your ceiling, the cheap fix has often cost you more than doing it right would have: the original repair, the damp plaster, sometimes rotten battens or a soaked bedroom. That's the false economy of the lowest quote — you don't save money, you just pay for the roof twice.
