Bulwell, on the River Leen in north Nottingham, is one of the busiest corners of our Nottingham work. The town centre end is Victorian — terraces, shops with pitched roofs behind parapets, and the local magnesian limestone ('Bulwell stone') on walls everywhere — while the wider area carries some of the city's biggest estates, from inter-war council semis to post-war builds around Highbury Vale, Bestwood and Rise Park.
